Proud to be a Mountain Leader!

The Mountain Leader Award (ML) was established to promote the safe enjoyment of the hills and mountains. The scheme provides training and assessment in the technical and group management skills required by those who wish to lead groups in the mountains, hills and moorlands of the United Kingdom and Ireland, under summer conditions. It integrates experience, training and assessment in a variety of testing conditions in mountainous country.

The Mountain Training Association (MTA) is a membership organisation for walking and mountain leaders, climbing instructors and coaches. It's members hold nationally-recognised awards and have been subject to a rigorous training and assessment process. You can view my MTA profile here.

I'm both a mountain leader and mountain bike leader of several years with most of my leadership experience coming from 24 years service in the British Army; leading groups in most mountainous regions of the UK, the Spanish Pyrenees (GR11), Malawi and the Falkland Islands.

Able to adapt to the needs of most groups, I have worked with cadets and adults from a variety of experience and backgrounds. I'm a very experienced driver with D1+E licence and I'm available for freelance work. Contact me for further details.
